to worry about DS (20mths)

He has just found an utterly ridiculous and impractical pair of impulse buy, glittery 5 inch heels in my cupboard
and came clip clopping along the hall in them, looking very cheery
he even turned round in them
I dont really approve of heels for toddlers but still am rather proud

Where did he get that from? - I cant even walk in the bloody things!

My ds was with us in Debenhams when we trying on shoes for my nieces's wedding. He INSISTED on trying on shoes too, and was tottering about in 4 inch silver heels with giant crystal tassels (eww). He is 2.10 and clearly thinks shoe shopping is fun.
My only concern was that he would break an ankle, but perhaps toddlers who weigh nothing are the only people who can walk in skyscraper heels without breaking their ankles!

It must be the glittery shine that attracted him.

I remember when my brother was around 3-4 years old he used to spray my mums perfume on him and smell the air in a dramatic way. Was funny and cutely camp.

all the hassle of sticking/clipping them on is worth it for the many photos we have up in our house with two toddlers with massive handlebar moustaches! visitors lean over like 'oh how swee-hmm...'

I have a lovely photo of my DS1 about that age, wearing nothing but my red stilettos and a broad grin.

does being able to walk in heels count as a developmental milestone?

Ah, both my ds's have done this with my high heeled/sparkly shoes. I wouldn't worry, honestly. Both are real boy, boys (apart from ds1's love of pink and desire to be a fireLADY), but that's something else .

he gets honours in his ballet exams, though.

My DS (also 20 months) insisted on only wearing his sister's pink crocs for ages to the point we had to prize them away from him at night. He also has to have slides and ponytails in his hair and wants lifting up to see in the mirror and if he can get into his sisters clothes, so much the better...bless him!

DS1's favourite thing at the same age was a red leather handbag and we have footage of him trying to apply make-up...badly!

and if you ask my almost 3 year old nephew what he wants to be when he grows up, he always replies "A lady"
