i am getting sick and tired of doing everything in this house with no help from df.

i am thinking about not cooking and cleaning up after him (apart from the bath as i need to use that )

so should i go on strike

Yes, go on strike (the only problem being you will probably get pissed off with it before he does!)!

Just ask him to help you? Men are special, they need telling what to do.

I do the 'would you like to hoover, or dust?' thing.

Also NEVER do any housework when he can't see you do it. Otherwise he'll think a fairy did it.

First of all he shouldn't be "helping" he should be doing his fair share.

Is he a reasonable man if you speak to him?Perhaps have a conversation about how you are not prepared to keep doing it all while he doesn't bother pulling his weight.

What works for us is that we both do certain jobs. For example dh doesn't do the laundry (I don't mind laundry) but in 8 years of living together I have only put the bin out once. We have found that if we both have jobs that we both do routinely, they become a (good) habit and no one feels put out.

I wash floors, but rarely do the dishwasher. He does most of the paperwork etc (you get the idea)

You need to sort all this out before he becomes your dh

Sort him out NOW while he is still on his best behaviour supposedly, i.e. engaged...

Once he is DH, forget it!
