What is the advice about eating peanuts in pregnancy if you have a DC with an allergy

Hi I have just found out that I am pg with no 3 and I was wondering what the current advice about eating peanuts is.

My DD1 has no allergies and I avoided peanuts when pg wih her, as that was the current advice. My DD2 is allergic peanuts and ate some while pg with her so I blame myself for her allergy to some extent. Now I am sure the recommendation is not to avoid them, but in my experience I feel eating some nuts may have contributed to dd2's allergy.

WWYD? Is there any medical recommendation as to what to do. My instinct is to avoid nuts. Thanks for any advice/experiences. (I will of course speak to my GP/midwife soon)

If I were you, with your history, I would avoid them.

DH and I are both Atopic so I avoided peanuts while preg and feeding both of my children and so far the worst we've had is a teeny bit of eczema on DS when he was a baby which hasn't been seen for about a year now. DD is only 6 months so we don't know for sure yet if she's totally clear bit certainly has nothing so far.

I ate peanuts through both my pregnancies (before advice to avoid peanuts) DH has tree nut allergies, animal and hayfever and I also have hayfever and eczema.

DS 14 has been allergic to peanuts and has grown out of it, but still has treenut and seed allergies

DD no allergies at all

Since last summer, the Government no longer recommends avoiding peanuts in pregnancy even if you have allergies, because there is no clear link between eating them and allergies: www.food.gov.uk/safereating/allergyintol/peanutspregnancy

I have allergies and so do most people on my father's side. However I decided to eat peanuts in pregnancy anyway on the above advice - admittedly mostly because peanut butter was one of the only things I fancied eating early on.

There is a good chance my little one will be allergic to something, based on my family's history - but I didn't think eating or not eating peanuts would change anything. Of course there's no way, if he does become allergic to peanuts, to know whether my decision had any affect or if it would've happened anyway.
