Are they usually allergic to rabbits as well? He's been fine with hamsters.

i was highly allergic to guinea pigs as a child, but fine with every other animal and had hamsters and gerbils at home.

to finish your sentence...you have a perfect excuse to avoid unnecessary expense and cleaning a cage out (despite childish promises) once a week.

Thanks. I guess there's not much to do but try it. Grumpypants I completely agree with you, but I'm a sucker for cute furry animals!

Is it definitely the guinea pigs he is allergic too? I always thought I was allergic to guineas and rabbits but it turns out it's their hay that affects me not the animals themselves. We now have two guinea pigs that I keep on fleece bedding rather than hay . They do have hay to eat but its obviously a lot less and not particles of it in the air etc when you clean them out . I am fine with them.

Well we've got a couple of rabbits and he's absolutely fine. Apart from loads of scratches!
