We found out ds1 was allergic to egg when he had it in his birthday cake for the first time when he was a year old.

He's now 4.7yo and this morning I did the last part of the reintroduction by rubbing raw eggwhite on his skin. This previously brought him out in hives, and today there was no reaction.

We went to the chinese buffet to celebrate and he loved trying some new foods that he couldn't have before.

So, I just want to thank everyone on here who has given me advice over the last 3.7 years regarding this.

His milk intolerence is almost gone too. He can have cooked milk, cheese and yogurt with no ill effects and we are shortly going to be trying straight milk.

I am so pleased about this, especially as he is off to school in August. One less thing to worry about.

that is really good news and gives me hope for DD (2.4) to overcome her dairy intolerance too

I bet he is going to enjoy all those new foods he can have

I hope your dd will outgrow her intolerence soon simpson. DS didn't develop his until he was nearly 2. He had a couple of really awful diarrhoea bugs which obviously stripped his gut and left him unable to tolerate it. We have been introducing it slowly, slowly for what seems like ages and I can see light at the end of the tunnel now.

It was brilliant to tell his nursery teacher that he can now eat anything with egg in it for snack, and can even touch it doing baking etc. There's only three weeks left of nursery, but hey, can't be helped!!
