while out shopping, and inside was a selection of stuff, including some hand gel, and some pom bear bakes, cheese flavour and some booklets.

one called 'thrive' from british heart foundation, with a selection of articles on faddy eating, children and eating disorders, junk food ads etc, and...........
a menu plan for kids school packed lunches, for £1 a day.
which is ok, its from 'the school food trust requirements for lunch'and the first menu idea is,
pitta bread stuffed with chicken and tomato slices
tinned peaches in juice
low fat custard
and
SMALL HANDFUL OF UNSALTED PEANUTS

i am so not in favour of loose nuts being in school.

am i being unreasonable here? or over reacting?

I don't think you're being unreasonable, I wouldn't dream of sending my child with nuts as another child could have an alergy.
