DD had allergic reaction, should she go to the GP?

My DD is 17, and has just told me that when she ate some tomato the other day, her tongue swelled at the back, and she started to find it hard to swallow, but this went off about twenty minutes (and a Benadryl) later. She was at school and didn't know what else to do.

Should I take her to the GP, or should we just avoid tomatoes in the future? She often gets irritation around her mouth after eating meals, but we had never pinpointed what caused it.

Thanks!

No harm in going to the GP and asking advice.

Go to the GP yes. Does she often have allergic reactions? Just wondering why she had benadryl..

Thanks for your answers.

waitingforbedtime - she had Benadryl because she has an allergy to cats, and therefore carries it with her for when she goes to her friend's house.

Yes, she should see the GP. And if anything happens at school again, she should go to the school nurse (if there is one), or at least tell a friendly teacher / responsible friend what is happening. How does she feel about going to the doctors?
