I'm allergic to dustmites (keep waking up with swollen face, itchy eyes, and can't sleep well, and get asthma as well sometimes) and was thinking of investing a duvet for my bed. My partner sweats easily so I need recommendation as to what kind of duvet to get. He says feather duvet we have now helps him sweat less than hypoallergenic ones. I would appreciate any suggestions. And also, does any other couples use separate duvets? I hate pulling match in the middle of the night and so I was also thinking of getting a single duvet for us each?

Feather will be no good for you
Do you have any kind of dustmite cover on the mattress?

Whatever you choose (and I would steer clear of a feather one), make sure it is washable and wash it regularly. Single duvets could be easier and then your dp could have a lower tog one which would be cooler for him, they are also easier to wash at home.

Also wash your pillows regularly. If you balance your pillow on your hand and it flops down on each side, I would bin it and buy new ones, as this usually means they are full of dust mite poo Pillows can be purchased fairly cheaply from many places.

Hoover around the bed 'intensively' i.e. go over the same spot 10-15 times. I have to do this in ds' room every few weeks and it makes a real difference.
