Hi all

What milk did you switch to at a year for babies with eczema?

Many thanks

dS1 had severe eczema and cow's milk allergy before 12 months, he drank Wysoy, a baby soya formula from 9 months until he was over two. DS2 was not allergic to milk but was fully breast fed until 14 months and did not like the taste of cow's milk, so he had Hipp Organic formula which tastes really sweet (like breast milk). Apparently, from the National Eczema Society, there is no proven link between cow's milk and eczema flare ups... however, I would be cautious and see how your little one reacts and what their personal preferences are.

DD had CPMI and was on Wysoy until about 13 months. We then gradually switched her back to ordinary formula (Aptimil). She was not able to tolerate drinking cows milk until 18 months.

Her paediatrician told us that many babies can tolerate milk in food (i.e. the milk is cooked) long before they can tolerate drinking milk.

So I suggest you take it slowly and see what happens. Also, to get DD used to the different taste of cows milk compared to formula, I mixed the two in her beaker for about 1 month. So at first it was about 80% formula and each week I increased the proportion of cows milk.

My son drinks goat's milk. Cows milk still causes bloating and stomach cramps at 9.
He did have excema as a baby but that also cleared up around the time I switched milk at around 1 year.
