...can't think what to cook...she does eat fish, but can't think of a nice sauce to go with anything that doesn't need flour!

Paella is nice, which is seafood, rice, some veges. Yum!

Another thing I make is a couscous dish with onion and garlic, raisins, dried apricots, either pine nuts or flaked almonds, spices, mushrooms, courgettes and spicy chicken, which you could replace with prawns, or tofu.

veggie stir fry with either egg fried rice or egg noodles

Formal dinner, or just popping round for tea ?

If you can get to the shops before she comes, you can buy gluten free/wheat free flour in the Free From section to use in your normal sauces, or use cornflour.

I do salmon in a creme fraiche, chive and pea sauce (warm creme fraiche, ship chives in, add peas), which is very nice and you could have it with mashed potatos and other veg

Yup couscous or tagine would work. I use butternut squash, sweet potatoes, courgettes onion, appricots, garlic, cinnamon & cumin.

Or a veggie curry - you don't have to have chapati, naan.

or risotto - any sort - I do fennel risotto quite often which is light and fresh, or mushroom for a more filling version

CMOTdibbler · 05/02/2010 13:49

Couscous and egg noodles are made of wheat though

has she been round yet? Sainsburys have an offer on their gluten free spaghetti or penne which you could serve with a ragu tomato sauce (check bottle but they mostly have maize flour, which is OK).

WingedVictory · 07/02/2010 08:39

What about lentils? You can curry or chilli them with veg, and it is very tasty!

BlueBumedFly · 07/02/2010 18:12

I do prawns in chinese 5 spice, pan fried with oven roasted veg cous cous and peas... yum.

BlueBumedFly · 07/02/2010 18:14

Ah, wheat, sorry, stupid. Hmmmm, how about lovely big oven cooked jacket potatoes with a choice of fillings? You could do cheese and some prawns, or beans or vegetarian chilli?

Or veggie chilli with rice? Easy peasy and you can make it ahead.
