dh ears swell and itch when he wears new coat

he bought a waterproof coat and every time he wears it his ears swell and itch, could he be allergic to some of the chemicals used to waterproof the fabric

Oh dear that's a good question... anyone have any ideas?

you can be allergic to almost anything. Probably best to stop wearing the coat although he could try washing it then reproofing and hope the treatment uses different chemicals. Or he could try a barrier cream on his ears, but then he risks the chemicals on the coat getting to his hands, then mouth - that might cause more severe problems.
