Question for coeliac or those with coeliac children

Quick question..

If you contaminate yourself after a long period of successfully being gluten free do you find that the reaction is worse than if you keep doing it by accident?

I hope that makes sense, basically DS has been successfully gluten/wheat free for months (really pleased with myself ) but something contaminated him last and omg the reaction was the worst yet and has dragged on. Wondered if it was worse because he has been successfully uncontaminated for a fairly long time.

Thank you

I'm interested to know the answer to this.

Yes, I think it is worse than when I continually ingested gluten, and I have heard it from others too.

absolutely...I think it works in stages and everyone is different.

I am coeliac but also allergic to wheat... I gave them all up then tried some gluten-free wheat bread to see if it was gluten and I was so ill almost instantly for a week!

Yes, I agree it is worse.
