Mouth ulcers and tomatoes or red onion? Anyone else suffer?

Every now and then I work out that I am bearing eating 5 a week let alone 5 a flippin day so I start munching on salad etc to up my vitamin intake etc. Each and every time I end up with mouth ulcers, could be 3 could be 7 or 8.

This week I have been eating salads with both toms and red onions. Does anyone else get lots of mouth ulcers? I thought I used to only get them when I was tired and run down but now it seems I get them when I try to get healthy.

I am not a fruit lover and don't get on that well with fruit sugars so I eat more veg and salad to make up for it.

Anyone else had this?
Thanks in advance.

I eat Tomatoes & red onion & my mouth ulcers aren't bad atm

When I was a teenager I got loads of ulcers but it stopped in my early 20's

I wonder if it'd lettuce....I use to eat loads but then I got IBS & I stopped (around the same time)

Don't get them often, so can't help I'm afraid. MIL does get them a lot though, and swears by fresh pineapple to cure them (got to be fresh for some reason). I tried it once when I had one and it did work - try holding it against the ulcer for a while before swallowing it.

Thanks guys. I cannot have pineapple sadly, too high in fruit sugars and gives me a raging headache!

Not keen on fruit and veg -you can get you 5 a day in a natural supplement. contact me for more details- [email protected]

I'd say tomatoes. they do it for me. You just need to isolate them. Next time you are all clear have the red onion alone first as I suspect it is not the culprit and then try a tomatoe the following week.

Salleroo - will do. I had another tomato and red onion salad on Monday and I have an ulcer on my tongue now. I am going to do as you say, get clear then try them in isolation. Shame, tomato and red onion salad with basil is a personal fave with BBQ!
