Gluten Free Food from supermarkets

I recently started a blog

www.freefromfood.co.uk

about our life with a coeliac, 2 wheat intolerances and a dairy intolerance in the family. I am looking for any recommendations for good and tasty food from supermarkets which we will try and I will also start to list on the blog.

Any suggestions and recommendations would be great

Hiya

2 X GF and 4 X DF in this house

Currently our faves (apart from home amde tortillas from maize flour but into shapes with a biscuit butter LOL) are the alpro flavoured soya cartons for school milk time, and the morrisons hazlenut cookies which are like flapjacks and so delicious

Alpro yoghurts are a staple here especially for the baby, and the little ttubs of soya desserts- DS3 keeps a stash in school of the valilla flavour for the cook to use as an alternative to custard on puddings.

Sainsbutrys free from fish fingers are divine, and we tried some delicious GD sausages last week from Morrisons - I will do a reccy for the name, premium rather than GF range

Thanks, we have tried the alpro but not the morrisons cookies - we don't shop there often.

Same with the sausages - we will give them a go although my girls don't really go for sausages!

these are uber-sausages LOL, really good quality and heavenly.

We only started at Morrisons last wee, the Sainburys range is better but the Morrisons have easier packaging to decipher if something is GF and DF free (a tick box system)- much easier for us (my eyesight is poor so ingredients lists a double nightmare)

Holand and Barratts do jelly teddy sweets that ds4 adores and are GF, better than haribo.

Oh ds1 likes the Doves farm chocket kids cereal, the one with the space design on the box. very more-ish.

thesockmonsterofdoom · 11/05/2009 12:51

another vote for the doves farmcereal, my dd's also absolutly love the morrisons rocky road bars.

Peachy · 11/05/2009 12:53

OOh will try those ta,quite easy to make yourself as well I would think rocky road bars.

Slashtrophe · 11/05/2009 12:59

Another vote for Doves Farm chocolate stars cereal, plus their flour is great for sauces, fairy cakes etc. And Procelli pizza bases and Bi-Aglut Fette Tostate (though I got the last two on prescription)

CMOTdibbler · 11/05/2009 13:00

I am currently loving the Doves Farm Special K alike cereal, the new Waitrose Almond tarts, and the Cinnamon Apple cereal that you can only get in Morrisons (I only go there for the GF stuff)

fave supermarket sausages are the Black Farmer ones

thesockmonsterofdoom · 11/05/2009 13:04

Favourite sausages, forgot that one, are tesco wn brand gf and not too expansive, that failing M & S do cocktail sausages.

silverfrog · 11/05/2009 13:08

2 x GF + Df, 1 x Df here.

we get Helen Browning sausages - really delicious.

Second Sainsbury's GF fishfingers.

dd1 absolutely loves Larabars - a fruit/nut bar which comes in loads of flavours. you can get a few flavours in Sainsburys, but a lot more online (dietary needs direct)

doves farm leomn biscuits, and hazelnut biscuits have gone down well in the past.

the dds have Whole Earth cornflakes for breakfast - can get them in Sainsburys and Waitrose.

CMOTdibbler · 11/05/2009 13:12

And the Procelli burger buns are the only ones worth having imo

LadyG · 11/05/2009 13:53

Dietary specials breakfast rolls (slightly sweet like Brioche) Trufree crackers, Mrs Crimbles choc macaroons, Rizopia or Orgran spiral pasta Doves Fram choc stars are the main processed foods we eat (DS 1 aged nearly 4 is coeliac) Annoyingly he's recently gone off sausages. Sainsburys fishfingers are good but we do our own fish 'nuggets' with salmon dipped in egg and crushed GF cornflakes (whole earth) coating in fact we use this wherever breadcrumbs would normally be used. Home made buckwheat and banana pancakes at the w/e and our new fave pancakes made of ground almonds (if you have no nut allergies obv)
