I've been given a script to use it, apparently it's not cow's milk nor soy? For DD allergic to cows milk and egg

I notice that you are having no luck attracting people Nonny, so I am bumping this for you.

I know its a semi-elemental formula compared to an elemental one like nutramigen and that its whey based. I'm not entirely sure what that means but its something to do with the milk being processed to make it more digestible. So its less likely to cause a reaction than ordinary milk but more likely than nutramigen. It is, however, said to taste better. How is your dd taking to it? I suspect its something you could use on a child suspected of outgrowing their allergy.

This site (which has good info on milk allergy) mentions it

Hello

My DS had a severe allergic reaction to formula milk, and was given neocate at hospital - but have only ever been able to get him to take one ounce!! (it smells disgusting).

My neighbour also has a baby with a milk allergy, and likewise could not get her DD to take neocate, but pepti junior has been successful for them, as its much more palatable.

I am going to see a dietician tomorrow with DS, and will enquire about pepti junior. Am just nervous that DS will have another severe reaction, so want to ensure he tries it in a 'controlled environment'. Watch this space! ...

Don't know if anyone else will be interested but I did see the dietician about pepti junior. As DS had such a severe reaction to formula milk she suggested trying nutramigen first instead. So we did and guess what we ended up in hospital again.

So no chance of him having pepti junior - we're stuck with neocate unfortunately.

I have had experience of pepti junior with my youngest daughter as she was having problems pooping from about 3 weeks old. the doctor put her on pepti on the basis she was unable to process the cows milk protein in her formula, it did take a while to have a notable affect but did work and we have never looked back, we have seen the dietician and she was happy that she has now grown out of it and I have successfully introduced dairy to her diet with no ill effect, she is 1 now and I am starting to wean her off pepti onto full fat cow's milk.
I must stress however that my dd never had a full blown milk allergy.
I hope this helps and you get some comfort for your DS and your family, :)

Ds is on pepti 1 after refusing neutramigen, he still has symptoms of his intollerance on it but they're much milder and the milk tastes and smells a million times better!
