Baby bike helmet causing dry skin/ eczema?

My DS, 18mo, has sensitive skin. In particular, we use the mildest washing powder/ bubble bath ever created to prevent the dry skin patches (Dr called it the very beginning of eczema but not really)from appearing. So far, we have been successful. But within the last month or two, patches have started appearing mainly around his neck and throat area. Could this be caused by his bike helmet? I obviously can't wash THAT in super sensitive washing liquid, so I was wondering if anyone had any bright ideas? Or experiences? Love cycling and so does DS so really don't want to stop.

Also, while I'm here, is he likely to grow out of the dry skin thing...?

TIA!

singalong - just a thought, but is there any latex on the helmet at all? DD1's bike helmet had an elastic type band around the strap and it made her skin flare up...

Good luck sorting it out!

Thanks kitkat, there isn't. It's just fabric and plastic.
