Hello

My 11 month old gets intermittant patches of dry skin mainly on the backs of her lower arms and redness again mainly on her lower arms. She does not scratch and there is no blistering or peeling - could it be eczema or just dry skin?

I mentioned it to the HV a while ago and they shrugged and said just dry skin?

Could it be a reaction to anything she is eating?

Hi - not going to attempt to diagnose as not a nurse/GP or skin expert. Eczema usually appears in crease/clammy areas, i.e. backs of knees, neck, behind/around ears, inside of elbows, armpits, tummy and so on. My DD does suffer with food allergies which results in v. mild eczema and the rash usually starts with her around her mouth/face/chin/neck. Have you thought of your washing detergent or the bubble bath/soap you're using? E45 cream might be worth a try first.

even if it is mild eczema, a good covering every night of a non-perfumed moisturiser eg E45 will sort it out. or ask doc for something like diprobase

are her lower arms often bare? am wondering if she is sensitive to carpet/cleaning chemical if crawling about IYSWIM
