aaaaargh! am freaking out here. ds is 9 months and we took a break from weaning because eczema outbreaks after everything we tried. just started the weaning again a week ago - 4 days of carrot and on day 4 of apple. Now this! it must be ralted i am sure?? dont have doctors appointment till late this afternoon. have no idea what this is. torso is clear, it is just on his limbs. is this hives? i have heard people talking about that on this topic but never seen it

any advice / experience much appreciated.

I think slapped cheek can produce limb rashes

Does he have a bright red spot on his cheek?

Sounds like hives to me. DD had them once on holiday, they came up all livid on her arms, neck and legs (looked just like nettle stings). Took her to docs and got some antihistamine. They dissapeared within a couple of hours. We never found out what caused them, doc thought an insect bite, we were more inclined towards something she or I had eaten (being it was on holiday so lots of new food).

Has never happened since. Also tbh DD was completely unfased, though she didn't sleep very well for a few nights.

thank you both. of course by the time i got to the doctor they had completely disappeared but my mu witnessed them and also thought hives. the doctor thinks it is unlikley something he ate as he had not eaten any solid food since night before. i am actually quite pleased about that as at least i can continue with weaning. have absolutely no idea what caused it. we were just kicking around the house in our pj's

Allergy to apple is quite common...

they are back! i put him in his playring thing when we got back from doctors and withing 10 mins they started to come back. they are still getting worse. have noooooo idea what it culd be. cannot think of anything different that has happened today. he had been in his playring just prior to me seeing them this morning. that would now seem to be the common link. but why??

ds gets a contact rash to grass, not much we can do about it, could it be something thouching his legs?

GrapefruitMoon · 23/07/2008 13:44

Have you washed the playring cover in bio detergent?

whateverhappened · 27/07/2008 17:47

could be some photointolerance - i get this if it is hot. wearing factor 60 works a treat!
