Drained with unsettled baby

Hi everyone ,

Just need to let this all out as I'm really struggling to cope.

Baby is 14 months old . Has been extremely windy since 3 months old. Tried everything to try and help. New teats , new bottles, infacol , collief, pro biotics , extra burping etc .

Worsened once weaning and even more so at the 9 month mark. Baby wakes every night still with wind at least twice sometimes for 10 min sometimes for hours. So difficult to help with the wind in the night as baby thrashes around and screams.

Has been diary free and gluten free for 3-6 months . Has been on omeprazole for 2 months. The wind is still present and can be as bad as ever but overall there has been an improvement from the 3 month mark but still very unsettled baby late evening into the night , everyday.

Has seen paediatrics who think cmpa I'm not convinced as she has been dairy free for 4 Months. Baby isn't coeliac as has had bloods so I've been trying to re introduce wheat but in my opinion baby has been more unsettled and more windy. However this is difficult to say as teething has started again .

I have made food diaries and I just do not know why she is like this and I cannot find a definite link with any allergen or food but I know this can be extremely difficult with intolerances . Baby has not thankfully had any true allergy attack .

Today she has been extremely windy yet she has had no dairy , no gluten but she did have egg yesterday and today . Yet food diaries in the past has shown little problem with egg. I do understand however this can all depend on how the egg is cooked .

Is she had got cmpa and wheat intolerance it can't just be these things there has to be more . I'm so frustrated and exhausted from constantly trying to figure out what it going on not sleeping.

I dont know what the next steps are , or what to do. Baby isn't coping and nor am I. I'm so frazzled with it all.

Night time is also horrendous. Baby won't go to sleep screams constantly when put in the cot and thrashes around hitting head on the sides therefore has to be taken out . Throws themselves backwards in the day due to being so unsettled.

Does any of this resonate with anyone ? What the hell do I do next 😩 just needed to get this off my chest so if you've got this far thanks so much for reading

Have you tried soya free? Around 50% of babies with cmpa are also allergic to soya due to the protein being similar.

What milk substitute are you using at the moment?

Marsh212 · Yesterday 13:18

Thankyou for your reply . Yeah baby is also soya free too 😩 I use gluten free oat milk which is draining the bank balance ha . Just can't figure it out at all

Is she crawling or walking?

WilliamsWishWellingtons · Yesterday 20:29

Has she been checked for tongue tie? Could she be gulping air when eating or drinking?

HotWheel5 · Yesterday 20:30

By ‘windy’ what do you actually mean? What are the symptoms? Vomiting? Crying? Rashes? Lose stools?

Marsh212 · Yesterday 21:41

@WilliamsWishWellingtonsthanks for the reply . Yes baby had posterior tongue tie which was released but not helped with the windiness

@HotWheel5Hey ! Sorry yes so symptoms are excess trumps , unsettled day and night with this and eczema which flares up and down ( can't figure out if any good trigger ) however definitely worse the last few days and baby has had egg so think that's going to be another thing to eliminate

Just noting the milk you are using, have you considered an oat allergy? It is quite rare but it might be worth switching to a pea milk or almond milk. If you do try exclude oats from the diet, make sure there are no oats in any products used on the baby too- as many baby bath and skin products contain avenin and so trigger the allergy. I have a little one with lots of tummy issues so I get how hard it is!

Did the crawl properly and for how long before walking?
