Oral allergy syndrome?

Does anyone have this and share some experiences? I’m pretty sure I’ve suddenly got this with hazelnuts. I’ve had a tingly / sore / odd mouth / tongue / lips several times in the last month and I think I’ve worked out that it’s hazelnuts or chocolate…

as it’s not a true allergy I can ignore it and just suck up the weird mouth and keep eating the nuts, right?

I get this with walnuts, salmon and plums. I still eat them.

Why is that not a true allergy? That exactly what symptoms my ds gets and he's allegedly to tree nuts.

A true allergy would mean it has elements affecting breathing or having serious reaction, OAS is much milder and fairly short lived. Cooking or processing can stop the reactions where as with a true allergy any amount in any state can cause a serious reaction. I think that sort of explains it?

@Chafing did you have it diagnosed by anyone or just symptom checking and carrying on? I love pralines and nitty chocolate but only eat it around Christmas or on rare occasions. So I’m keen not to rule them out. Not sure how interested GP would be.

Ds has a true allergy ,properly diagnosed by Guys hospital but doesn't have breathing difficulties.

Be careful OP in case you get a big reaction , ds had a couple of smaller reactions before a big one.
