Does this chemical affect anyone else ? It makes my joints hurt if I drink/ eat anything that contains it.
It's soooo bad for you from what I have read.

What does it do ?

expatinscotland · 08/06/2008 22:54

It just tastes AWFUL.

I can't stand it and I can taste artificial sweetners in the smallest of concentrations.

Vile.

I hate how it's in so many products in the UK, particularly those marketed at children.

Madlentileater · 08/06/2008 22:54

we rarely (never) have anything that contains it, but once dd1 was given some squash with it and it brought on asthma.

expatinscotland · 08/06/2008 22:56

it makes you thirsty, gives you bloating and gas, has a horrible aftertaste, gives you bad breath and a headache.

it's absolute rot.

AitchTwoCiao · 08/06/2008 22:58

can't stand the taste of it. loooooove full-fat coke however.

piggysneed · 08/06/2008 22:58

brings on dhs asthma.

christywhisty · 09/06/2008 00:24

Also hate the taste, horrible stuff.

ghosty · 09/06/2008 00:45

I am completely anti artificial sweeteners too. I would rather give my children a spoonful of sugar than give them a diet drink.

Saturn74 · 09/06/2008 00:49

Aspartame is evil.

Clary · 09/06/2008 00:56

It's foul. Haven't had any for years but it used to make me feel queasy.

A colleague who troughs down sugar free gum was astonished when I mentioned my reservations....

("Well it's legal so it can't be bad for you, can it" like smoking then )

stuffedaubergine · 09/06/2008 01:33

it's very very bad for you

very bad for you

InLoveWithSweeneyTodd · 09/06/2008 20:41

i keep away from aspartame as I identified it as one of the triggers for my migraines.

KatyMac · 09/06/2008 20:43

It gives me the trots, joint pain, headaches & visual disturbances

Horrid stuff

DiscoDizzy · 09/06/2008 20:44

I'm the same as SweenyTodd. Brings on migraines lasting 4 days or so.

InLoveWithSweeneyTodd · 09/06/2008 20:44

And after trying all sweeteners in the world, I came to the conclusion nothing beats real sugar!

Tillyboo · 10/06/2008 09:28

Some information and case histories of Aspartame poisoning.
The case history is fascinating and very, very frightening.

It's very scary to think that some people react so violently after consuming aspartame. As the author say's it's very dependant on the individuals make-up but I'm going to be checking everything I buy AND definitely check out my dd's vitamins !

I read about it 4 years ago and cut it out immediately. It's basically a poison. It's in the one cordial I used to buy, Robinson's High Juice(except for one flavour that I found, but can't always find it on the shelves), so Ds was changed over to water! though he loves to drink certain fruit tea's - and chilled, they are better than cordials anyway IMO.

orangehead · 12/06/2008 10:21

When ds2 had allergy test done it come up that he was allergic to it as well as wheat. He had alot of bowel problems. I did read something a few years back that it was linked to cancer but dont know how true that it
