To ask if my 7 week old has a possible dairy allergy?

My baby is 7 weeks old, nearly 8 weeks and since about 1-2 weeks old we have noticed the following -

  1. constant congestion sound
  2. lots of spit up, sometimes hours after feed
  3. swallowing, gagging and gasping sounds even after feeds
  4. Watery eyes
  5. Only contact naps
  6. arching of back and fussiness especially after feeds
  7. mucus in stools frequently
  8. coughing and sneezing daily
  9. Lots of Gas

I know he has reflux and a lot of these symptoms are his reflux but I can’t help but think if there is something more to it such as cmpa. He doesn’t have skin issues and has gained weight and never refuses feed but do any of the above symptoms indicate a potential cmpa?

I have tried anti reflux formula but these seemed to make his tummy more upset so have reverted back to my normal formula.

any experiences would be great!

my first born son wasn’t at all like this so I’m struggling and worrying. My first was what I’d describe as a happy baby, however my 2nd just never seems particularly happy.

could be but not necessarily. it also sounds like he may have a cold? that can lead to mucus in stools. 7 weeks is young for allergies especially with no eczema, but i don’t think it’s impossible.

allergies usually happen when the baby has somehow been exposed to antibiotics (including in labour or breastmilk) or is living in mouldy conditions. they can also have bad gut health if the mum does.

if nothing adverse has happened to the baby like that then i wouldnt think allergies are the most likely culprit.

My 5 month old was exactly like this when he was on aptimil and also going for poos every like 10 days constantly in pain with bad reflux and constipation. I swapped to Kendamil organic and he literally stopped spitting up he does it rarely now and started pooing daily I was so shocked. Before he was projectile vomiting constantly I ended up taking to an and e 2 times. Sometimes reflux can be really bad and I think certain formulas can really affect them!!

My besties son has cmpa his symptoms were like really violent spit up, blood in spit up and blood in his poo

Mine had a dairy allergy and had blood in her poio - very scary. 13 years on no dairy allergy in sight.
