A warning for Coeliacs....Sainsbury's Aloo Sag

I've just finished eating a portion of this product, from the chilled curry range. It is labelled Suitable for Coeliacs, yet I found a large and unappetising lump of fried bread in the last few mouthfuls (why oh why is it never the first????)

I have contacted sainsbury's care line and was told to take it back to store. The lady seemed unable to comprehend how serious this could be fro some coeliacs. So, I've contacted them by e-mail and also alerted Coeliac UK about it.

We do most of our shopping in Sainsbury's and this has seriously dented my confidence in their products .

The bar code is 01164862. If anyone out there has bought this product, I'd advise you not to eat it.

There have been on-going issues with Sainsburys products for over a year now. Yet another reason (if you ever needed one) not to shop at supermarkets!!

I'll pass this on to my brother who's coeliac. What are the other issues with Sainsburys? I know he does shop there sometimes.

lackaDAISYcal · 08/06/2008 21:42

what are the ongoing issues? We regularly shop there, and I eat stuff from their free from range as well as stuff that is labelled suitable for coeliacs.

Thanks for the warning - would also be interested to hear what the "ongoing issues" are, as I mainly rely on Sainbury's Free From to feed ds1 (coeliac).

I would also be interested to hear about sainsburys and GF products. My mother is Coeliac, so any info gratefully received.
