Aptimil anti reflux and infacol

My 4 week old baby is on anti reflux milk and I’ve started using infacol about 2 weeks ago due to her having colic, but she’s now worse than ever! She’s screaming in pain after every feed and taking hours to settle back down. Took her to the GP they said it’s normal and to continue using both until her digestive system matures. She struggles to poo then she has really watery stool. Has anyone else had this problem?

You have my sympathy OP. My baby suffered with reflux from birth and we tried so many different things to help her. She was started on Carobel which is a thickening agent and has a similar effect as the anti reflux milk and she was in awful pain from it with trapped gas and bloating and wouldn’t stop screaming.

Eventually we found changing bottles, putting her on Gaviscon and a tongue tie release helped ease her reflux symptoms but unfortunately it is a case of trial and error to see what works best for your little one. We tried so many things, some worked and some didn’t! It was hard!

What I will say is it is not normal for your baby to be screaming in pain after every feed and it really pisses me off when doctors fob mums off by saying this! My baby is 8 months old and still struggles with symptoms. If you are not happy go back to the GP and insist you want to try something else. If it is reflux there are other medications you can try.

My baby was like this, it was only later we discovered via testing that he was allergic to an ingredient in the formula he was having.
