Eyelid eczema and Aveeno

I have eczema on eyelids, it's dry and flakey. I was wondering if it's ok to
Use aveeno skin relief body moisturiser? It's thick and unscented and seems to
help. It's listed as a body moisturiser though..I just can't find any other cream on the market for eyes! X

My sympathies, I had this for about 2 years some years back, it was persistent and took many doctor visits then dermatologist appointments. If you're finding the aveeno helpful that's great-another one to try would be cerave night cream and then a smear of vaseline on top of that to keep it in. If your eyelid eczema gets infected, I was advise to use a bit of baby shampoo diluted in warm water and applied on a flannel, then a thin smear of betnovate after drying. He also recommended the Boots own lipsalve in pale blue packaging so i could apply easily out and about when I felt the skin itching and tightening. Hope this helps!

Fine to use Aveeno if it works for you. Absolutely DO NOT use Betnovate as PP has suggested.
if it doesn’t improve very soon ask your GP for Protopic/Tacrolimus, which is fine for eye eczema. You can get more information from the National Eczema Society.

It is NOT a great tip to use Betnovate anywhere near your eyes as this poster has suggested. It is a steroid ointment that should never be used near your eyes and you risk getting glaucoma if you use it. Go educate yourself and contact the National Eczema Society Helpline.

I started using Cerave moisturiser but then found Boots DermaCare Ceramides Conditioning eye balm which is really cheap but very soothing. Unscented too. I use it every night.

@salty78
Wow ceramides are good. Do you put this on eyelids? Xxx

Hey I've been having this problem for months, if it works and doesn't cause further irritation keep using it! Maybe ask your GP and ask them for an eczema face cream i got prescribed one recently and it helped. I'd also keep a food diary. My eczema has completely disappeared off my face after a few days of not drinking oat milk and using oat based creams i found out by accident x

Bioderma atoderm intensive eye cream for dry itchy eczema probe skin worked wonders for me - i had awful sore red dry flaking skin round my eyes and this helped it very quickly

Had it for years on and off and whilst aveeno was the only moisturiser to help it, it never really cleared it ans it was a protopic cream from the gp that really helped (steriod cream was prescribed initially and made it worse).

@cakeandwine has yours cleared now? I was scared to
Go down protopic route.

Yes, it has been amazing. Cleared up and perhaps once in 2/3 months I might use it once if I notice it becoming uncomfortable
