Ds came out with eczema from about 3 months old just around the neck area from the day he was born he’s never slept
but once this rash come things got worse we started off breastfeeding for 3 months then went on to hip organic we then thought it was a cows milk allergy so went to the gp an changed his milk we then discovered he was allergic to eggs and had a few occasions he came out in hives ( this is 6 months old weening) we have tried so many different creams off the gp we have used steroids which cleared it then made it come back even worse the flare up doesn’t seem to have stopped since 3 months old he is now 9 months even though we have tried creams steroids changed milk to cows milk allergy one kept eggs out of diet tried piriton twice a day changed soap power, even when ds skin looks clear the itching still doesn’t stop especially of a night when it’s constantly all night which means am awake all night we are now at the point we don’t no what else we can try or do? His neck area seems to always been his problem his eczema is all over his front neck an belly back but hardly any on legs or arms an none atall hope someone out there has something else I can try

Have you tried eliminating gluten?

I think you should ask for a referral to a dermatologist.

i had similar with one of mine and I feel your and their pain.

For us lots of the moisturisers the GP were recommending/prescribing exacerbated the eczema. The steroids the GP prescribed were too mild so they looked like they were clearing the eczema up but it was still lingering.

We ended up using wet wrap bandages, strong steroids and Doublebase moisturiser. Minimal bathing. It helped us turn a corner.

Yes took that out his diet to as advised by the dr even though his blood tests come back that he was allergic but the dr said he could just be intolerant

I'd think about dust allergy, pets? Dd2 is defo food though and my partners is dust and things from the night shade family, chillies, tomatoes. You need an allergy test really as it could be something your in aware of. Also be careful the creams aren't making it worse, dps skin is far better with no cream at all. Use a tickle type motion to reduce the itch without having to scratch, it does work.

You could try Scratch Sleeves at night to stop the damage caused by itching.

I’ve been where you are. Just water in the bath, pat dry with a towel, don’t rub. It took us so long to find a cream that worked, it’s Aproderm oat cream for us. Be careful how much cream is going on. I was once told if the skin is saturated it can’t breathe and is a vicious circle that makes the eczema come back. We didn’t bath every day. Scratch sleeves at night. Look up ezcema clothing/happy skin. We got pyjamas on a prescription through a dermatologist.
if it is a cows milk allergy, there’s different levels of formula. A lot of the allergy milk still contains cow protein in it (“Extensively hydrolysed infant formulas still contain cow’s milk protein, but the proteins have been broken down into smaller pieces. For those who still have symptoms on an extensively hydrolysed formula, an amino acid formula is required“)
we also did a coal tar treatment through dermatology prescription. It can really help to banish it. Just make sure it’s all from your GP/dermatologist.
every baby will be different. Just hang on in there until you find what works for yours.
