My daughter at the party?

It’s Saturday today, and my daughter has got an invite from Friday for a party on Sunday. She really wants to go, however, she has a nut allergy. It’s not a really bad allergy, but she can’t be around nuts. This hasn’t really been a problem before, but the girl whose party it is, let’s call her Emily, is having a peanut butter cake. I told my daughter she couldn’t go, as being around nuts will give her an anaphylactic shock, but she’s super mad at me as I can’t turn up for her school play and now this. It feels like I’m villainising myself.

what does the school play have todo with…. anything?

keeptryinggirl · 22/06/2024 11:12

ah i see now

op…. ask the parent of the party girl what time cake will be served. explain your daughters allergy and that ok for you to drop after cake time?

but still risky i suppose

presumably the party girl knows your daughter has a serious nut allergy? how old are the children?

keeptryinggirl · 22/06/2024 11:13

it seems like your daughter was a last minute invite

How is it not a bad allergy if she will go into anaphylactic shock? A not bad allergy would be a sneezing fit or a mild asthma attack.

I thought that, "it's not a really bad allergy, but she can't be around nuts"

OP can you talk to the mum and arrange for the cake to be cut after she's left or something? I'm sure there's a way around it

Thanks everyone! There are lots of questions here, so I will try and answer them!
@keeptryinggirl My daughter has her first play with her drama group which she is mad at me about because I can’t attend, and now I’m saying she can’t go to this party. Also, the children are in Year 4, so 8 to 9ish.
I will talk to the girl’s mum to see what can be arranged, thank you, all!
