Allergy to child’s farm sun cream

Hiy,

My two year old is allergic to sun cream and even Child’s Farm sets off the allergy, which is the one we’ve been recommended. Of course it wouldn’t be that simple 🙄 This is one coat on Sunday and we are now on Tuesday night and it’s still so angry. I was hoping this year her skin would be able to tolerate it, as she flared up all last summer too.

The flare ups also happen randomly so I think it may be also be dermatitis/eczema as I struggle with this also 🫤🤷‍♀️ Suncream just seems to be one trigger for it.

I can’t put her through this all summer, she’s a boss with pain but she even cried when we had to wipe her nose today.

Is there anyone who has a child who can’t tolerate child’s farm sun cream but has other options? Any cost to avoid being sore.

Thank you 🙏

Other child's farm products have been awful for our DC so I wouldn't worry about that.

Our DC have been fine with Nivea so I haven't had to try the brands for them, but my skin hates sun cream and the Piz Buin allergy range works well for me. Someone on here did say the other day that it's not highly rated though.

Also, what factor are you using? SPF50 is so thick it's very hard on the skin, so if you haven't I'd try SPF30 and reapply.

Not suncream but I bought some Child's Farm moisturiser due to all the hype over it being great for sensitive skin, and it was horrible heavily fragranced stuff that set off my eczema.
The only suncream my Dc have reacted to is the Nivea coloured suncream. Their school used La Roche Posey suncream on residential trips as that's supposed to be very hypoallergenic, might be worth a look?

My eldest can only use the boots soltan kids suncream range, all the others we have tried give him a rash. My other 2 are also a little sensitive to most suncream ranges too so I generally just stick with the boots one for them too

DD is allergic to sunscreen. The only one we've found that's ok so far is Liidl's normal one, not their child's.

I am too. Recently discovered Bondi Sands fragrance free which is even ok on my face which is a miracle. I reacted terribly to Child's Farm.

Altruist is the only suncream that doesn't make my DS react.

Weallnamechangesometimes · 28/04/2024 09:11

My ds can only tolerate 30 spf not 50

SnackyOnassis · 28/04/2024 09:22

Ultrasun kids 50+ is amazing for my children who reacted to Child's Farm. I think part of it is also that it's a much grippier formula so doesn't run into their eyes when they sweat or get wet at all.

My daughter is allergic to sun cream. Child’s farm caused the worst reaction of all. The only one we found that works is the green people organic kids. It’s only factor 30 unfortunately but it’s the only thing we can use.

CadyEastman · 28/04/2024 09:28

Green people is the only moisturiser I can use Wink

Wincher · 28/04/2024 09:32

Yup Green People was the only one that worked when my DS seemed to react to every sun cream (he grew out of it around age 7/8 and we can use anything now).
worthnoting that I compared the ingredients of the children’s and adult green people creams and they seemed identical. Adult one is cheaper though!

My daughter has eczema and itches with child's farm suncream. Once summer we got back in and her whole face was red and blotchy.

She can use the garnier kids ambre solaire suncream fine

My son has reacted to a lot of "kids" sunscreen, I've found Ambre Solare Kids Sensitive is good for him.

cherryassam · 07/05/2024 14:08

I have horrendous reactions to sun cream.
The Childs Farm one was very aggravating for me.

I’ve had better luck with Garnier Amber Solaire Kids Sensitive Advanced 50+, the liquid from a bottle one.

also a physical sunscreen might be less irritating if you think it’s the chemical filters causing the issue - I like the Blue Lizard Baby Mineral one, but it’s not cheap. The Aveeno Zinc Oxide one is also okay for me, but it does leave me with a super white cast and I’m pale as is.

fluffypuffyrug · 07/05/2024 14:13

Have you tried a mist/aerosol instead of lotion?

I find lotion aggravates my skin so much but Asda cooling sun mist sprays on like a deodorant and doesn't bother me at all.

SpringBunnies · 07/05/2024 15:34

Mine is allergic to all suncream we have tried. She gets really itchy red rashes. She's got eczema and has steroids and protopic prescribed by a dermatologist. My solution is to not use suncream. She has hat and stay in the shade.

Justploddingonandon · 07/05/2024 15:37

I find ultrasun is the best for my DD who is allergic to most. However I realised they all aggravate her eczema but can usually counter that with creams. I think it's because any waterproof sun cream also traps sweat.
