Chocolate for cooking that is nut free ?

planning a chocolate dessert for a dinner party. One of the guests has a nut allergy. Suddenly wondered whether plain chocolate bars might be produced in the same place as eg fruit and nut and therefore cross contaminated? She's on holiday until after i need to do my shopping so don't want to mither her while she's away. If you have a family member with a nut allergy, is there a brand you trust to be safe? I usually buy regular chocolate from Aldi or Lidl, or Cadburys rather than cooking chocolate because it tastes better to me. Must melt well.

My ds has a hazelnut allergy. I use Lindt dark chocolate 70%. I can't however guarantee it as the packaging in common with most chocolates says 'may contain nuts'. I think you will have to ask or just have a back up meringue or Eton mess or something.

The problem is that what is OK for one person might not be for another. One person could be more sensitive to traces than another.

Nearly all (if not all) Lidl and Aldi own brand chocolate say may contain nuts. So even if they don't have nuts in them they have the risk of cross contamination. My partner with a nut allergy won't risk it but others may. Cadbury bars may contain nuts but some of their sharer packets like giant buttons don't (from memory). Lindt is a may contain. The only one I'm 100% confident on every time is plain galaxy, doesn't contain nuts and is not a "may contain."

Dr oetker is what we use. DH is severely allergic to peanuts, tree nuts and sesame.

Dr Oetker is what we use too. Doesn't seem to mention nuts on the packaging
