Severe reaction to hair dye

Evening, had a horrendous reaction at the hairdressers yesterday. Dye was only in 5 minutes and I came out in a rash all over my chest and neck, scratchy throat.

hairdresser washed it off immediately. Within minutes I started vomiting and shaking uncontrollably. It was awful. Someone called for an ambulance and was administered IV antihistamine, anti sickness and a steroid. Monitored for hours and discharged on oral steroids.

Today, I'm fine but completely shaken by the experience. Worried that this may happen again...... and gutted that I may have to embrace my greys 😅

Any one have experience of this? It wasn't a full blown anaphylactic response but certainly a systemic response, scary enough to experience and have no wish for a repeat!

Sali Hughes the beauty writer had the same thing. You can develop allergies any time. It will be to only one ingredient so other dyes may be safe to use but please don't risk anything without further tests!
Hope you recover soon.

I will have a look at her instagram account. Thank you. Feeling brighter this evening. Just had a wobble about how lucky I was to receive prompt treatment. It could have been so much worse.

This happened to me with a dye that I'd been using for years. I have since embraced the grey as it was a horrible experience.
