Managing Household Food Preferences When Shopping Online

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone could share tips or guide on how they've been able to manage their household/family allergies or food preferences when shopping for food online.

Take into consideration that I have stopped going to the physical store since the pandemic started.

Scroll down the product page and read the list of ingredients. For every item. No different to reading them in the store 😉If they're not listed on the supermarket website you're visiting - look them up on other websites. If they're not listed at all, don't purchase.

Same way as when I go to a shop! Check ingredients and know my 'safe' products. Also keep an eye out for alert notices and product change info in allergy groups.

I like Ocados 'flag' feature. Its not infallible, but it does let me exclude things quickly without having to go into the product details - which of course I always check

Ooh, is that just a website thing? I use the app and don't think I've come across that, but would be handy.

@Yarnosaur I don't use the app, but on the website, you go into your account settings, then food profile and you can select what allergens you want it to flag up to you. Then when you are browsing you see a purple flagged thing on the product image. It doesn't catch everything, but its pretty good and saves a lot of time

That sounds really helpful, thank you.

Ocado have a great new category now for top 14 allergen free products. I always feel safe shopping from them, I do still double check all the ingredients but it is a great start! They have some great products on their as well.
