Anxiety that goes away after visit to the loo

Hello,

I've had this for a few years now and I am finally beginning to recognise the pattern.

It usually happens during the afternoon or evening, I start with an anxiety attack worrying about things like the mortgage, getting old, etc. I can physically feel the nervous energy travelling around my body. Awful. Then I go to the loo and I get on like normal...

Surely genuine anxiety doesn't go away because you go for a number 2?

I know the gut is like a second brain but as much as I Google I haven't been able to understand this. Any one else is the same? Any ideas what is going on?

I get anxiety symptoms like racing heart, palpitations, panic feeling .. which then goes away or eases if I do a number 2. I think doctors suggested it's something to do the the Vegas nerve being stimulated.
but I'm not usually thinking of things previously like you say you are.

Interesting! I get that sometimes too, the palpitations just before and during no 2 can get quite scary Blush

Grin I'm not alone! Do you get anxious because you have to go and feel unwell? In my case I start with the anxious thoughts and feelings before I even realise I need the loo. Maybe half an hour to an hour earlier so never connected it until recently.

No I just get like an anxious feeling and feel quite jittery and on edge! Then realise it’s because I need the toilet 🤣 so weird!

Is it a normal poo, or a loose one? Anxiety and celiacs is very common!

Loose, I've been trying to establish what is it I shouldn't be eating. Tested negative for celiac on blood test.
