How old is she? She could well be having a reactoion to it that she might well grow out of

Beauregard · 06/01/2008 22:04

Mine do this,

they have excema and they go really red but i dont stop them eating them,

DS is starting to grow out of it now at 3 but DS2 looks really bad after,

but it doesnt affect them or hurt them so I let them carry on.

DaisyMoo · 06/01/2008 22:08

My ds3 doesn't have eczema but he does get a rash round his face from tomatoes or anywhere they touch - I think it's because of the acid and is fairly common.

MeMySonAndI · 06/01/2008 22:08

Tomate allergy is very common, DS can now manage tomato sauces without problems but fresh tomatoes are still a problem. Fortunately, he hates them fresh.

Beauregard · 06/01/2008 22:09

I am worried that it will hurt her though.
My mom gave her some tomatoes yesterday and even her vulva is red raw.

My dd reacted very badly to tomatoes and strawberries. She has excema anyway but always had a flare up after those 2 foods.

I cut them out of her diet and about 6 months later she accidentally had some and was fine. Don't know if it was becasue I cut it out of ehr diet for a while or whether she'd have grown out of it anyway.
I have spoken to the specialist about allergy testing and he said that they could test allergic to something now but be clear of it in 6 months

VeniVidiVickiQV · 06/01/2008 22:09

yes, very common.

Watch her with citrus fruits and pineapples too.

oliviaelanasmum · 06/01/2008 22:10

My dd1 (6) used to get this too, unfortuantly for her she would rather eat tomatoes than sweets! She has started to grow out of it now though.

So i don't need to report it to the GP? or do anything? just avoid fresh tomatoes.

Hmmm

if its affecting her that bad then maybe you should hold off them for a while.

DS1 had MEGA reactions to strawberries, I stopped him having them for 6 months and tried again and he was much better.

Pixiefish · 06/01/2008 22:10

Don't let her have them for a while and then try them.

Meant to add that my allergy discussion with the doctor was regarding my dd who was 1 at the time. As young childrent heir allergies can change apparently

My ds doesn't have eczema but get a rash around his mouth if he eats uncooked tomatoes.

colditz · 06/01/2008 22:11

Ds1 used to get a rash around his face after eating bolognese - he grew out of it.

Beauregard · 06/01/2008 22:13

Hello
My Son has an allergy to tomato, He gets the rash on his face and then the next day he has bad bowels for 3 days, i cut tomatos out totally and he is a totally different, the doctor said it irritates his insides and makes him irratiable and moody, he cant have any tomato based food at all. Spag bol, tinned beans or ketchup.
He isnt happy about it but i am hoping he will grow out of it, they are re testing him at 5 yrs old. he has just turned 2.
