Like coeliac but not coeliac

Two of my children are diagnosed with coeliac. I’ve been tested twice but both bloods have come back negative.

I’ve always struggled with eczema but when I eat gluten or wheat I feel breathless, I get a rash on my chest, my nose runs, my eyes feel sore and my fingers swell, then burn and itch. I have low Vitamin D. GP has been hugely unhelpful. Could this be a wheat or gluten allergy?

Try going GF for 6 months and see if you feel better?

I think the blood test only shows a positive for coeliac if you have been eating gluten for at least six weeks, and a 'normal' quantity. Maybe your tests have come back negative if you are unable to eat it?

That sounds more like a potential wheat allergy, I'd suggest requesting a referral to an allergy clinic. And avoid wheat while you're waiting, allergy testing does not require you to be eating/using the suspected trigger.

There is some evidence that people are allergic or intolerant to types of sugars found in foods - including wheat. So often people think they are gluten intolerant but it might be this. Worth looking into OP, if you are negative to coeliac.
