Dairy allergy - but OK on Formula?

The last 3 months have been horrific for me and my LO, he's been in hospital 3 times, including twice in intensve care with breathing problems. It seems to come after a cold but no main viruses have been identified.

All sort of possibilities are being explored, thankfully big things like Cystic Fibrosis have been excluded. One straw I'm grasping at is a possible intolerance to dairy, as the health problems started at the same time as weaning

But he's been on formula since 1 month old (I was able to mix feed until 4 months)and there never seemed to be a problem. So is it possible to have an intolerance to dairy but be OK on formula?

Thanks, any advice gratefully received

which formula is it? ya willing to name names??

my dc are intolerant to one of the proteins in cows milk, and not lactose - so tis just about possible. more likely imo to be a type of protein or sugar

ps how old is he?
one of my dc had some 'first milk' which seemed ok(ish) but e weren't able to get him onto the 'follow on milk' stuff which is where the problem was highlighted

He's 9 months now, problems started when he was 6 months. Its so hard to pick out what might have happened, as everything coincided- going to a childminder ( who had a cat so we had to leave), more playgroups, winter bugs and weaning etc etc.

He's on Cow and G, now but has been on most of them with no problems.

my youngest DD had hipp organic after 17mo bf and doesnt react to it, as it has none of the proteins and sugars that others have. she was fine with it, we also use goats milk for all three dc. there is a goats milk formula that one of the wise ladies on here put on a thread a few months ago, nanny....erm something. will find it if you'd like the info. Havent used it but it is all useful info.
this is all coming out in a big muddle, but the best way you can figure out what the problem is , is by cutting "it" out of lo's diet, and then re-introducing one thing at a time. loads of pro's and cons to the dairy free and soya formulas, hope someone who knows the whole picture comes along soon
otherwise i have 7 years and three dairy-free children to go from if there is anything you think i can help with. mine react more with eczema and asthma symptoms, so it is all snot and itches rather than a true allergy situation in our house.
i write gobbledeeegooookkk sorry
