I had my second child two years ago. During pregnancy I couldn’t eat anything low fat, it always tasted chemically. I still can’t eat anything low fat and a lot of the foods I used to eat, I now can’t abide (I haven’t eaten fruit since I was pregnant as it’s just too sweet!).
A short time after he was born we became aware that he had a dairy allergy. As I was breastfeeding I also had a dairy free diet. I stopped at six months only to realIee I’d become intolerant to dairy - this was after indulging in some baked Camembert. I thought it was a one odd but the more dairy I consumed the more I sufferers from diarrhoea, cramps and a swelling throat. GP confirmed it was an allergy or an intolerance depending how my body reacts when I try and build up my tolerance (with a side or piriton) to manage the symptoms. 18 months on from that I am still unable to have dairy! However, having had peanut butter over the last 18 months, this weekend I started getting a reaction from it on my throat and too of my mouth - like a burning, tingly sensation. My throat was really itchy too. Again I attempted this twice but had to give up on having that for breakfast.
I struggle with so many meal options as I just can’t eat them! Struggle eating porridge (with plant milk or water), but I used to eat this daily. I also find I’m developing an aversion to red meat, which I’ve never had before. I’m having sandwich spread sandwiches for lunch most days as I know I can eat it. I eat vegan, fish and chicken regularly with vegetables / cooked, not salad. I tend to eat carrots and hummus for breakfast now (which I think tastes amazing!!). But, I miss my go to meals, really miss jacket potatoes with cheese, I miss porridge too! Lol.
It’s really weird, isn’t? How can I start developing these intolerances and my food taste changing? Has his happened to anyone else?
