Paediatric Gastroenterology Dr. Recommendation

Does anyone know the best paediatric gastroenterology department for diagnosing coeliac children in London or the surrounding area? Or the name of a good paediatric gastroenterologist to do a biopsy to diagnose coeliac? We have private health care cover, and would like to find an expert in diagnosing coeliac. Thanks!

I would pick a consultant who mainly works in the nhs at a hospital with a large paediatric department eg St Thomas's or GOS. Coeliac shouldn't be hard to diagnose but your child will need an endoscopy which involves general anaesthetic. You can quite easily check consultants special interests by looking at their profiles.

I thought that had changed and they are no longer requiring endoscopies if certain blood parameters are met. There is a genetic test that they do now that can help diagnose 99.9 certainty. That is why I wanted an expert on this so we don’t have to do the endoscopy if it is not necessary.

Thanks so much. I looked these up but none of them seems to be a coeliac specialist. Have you seen one in particular for diagnosing coeliac?

Prof Neil Shah is good. You don't need a "coeliac specialist" but a good paed gastric who can make differential diagnosis.
Good luck.
