8 year old hay fever advice

Hi
Can anyone give me any advice for helping my son with his hay fever?
We have a nasal spray from the GP and he takes lorotadine each morning but he is really suffering with his eyes. We’ve tried eye drops but he gets really upset as it hates them.
Anyone got any advice on any treatments or medicine that might be more effective or help?
Thank you in advance.

Gay fever though 😂 😂 😂

I find relief in closing my eyes and spraying my eyelids with a water spray when they get that itchy, scratchy, dry feeling. I hate drops too

Ask MNHQ to edit it for you.

I’ve asked MNHQ to amend the title.

Try other meds. Chlorphenamine maleate (generic piriton) works for me. Also I've got fluticasone propionate to squirt up my nose 😉

Optrex actimist spray for dry/itchy eyes is my saviour, spray on closed eyes and be amazed at instant relief. I use it before bed too. Expensive compared to drops but worth every penny.

Please don’t change the title Grin I heard that local honey is helpful with hay fever, no idea whether it actually helps, but we’re giving it a go this year.

Grin gay fever, I came on to say YABU and should be more supportive of your son no matter what age he is. For hayfever, I 100% recommend piriton, my eldest DD has multiple allergies and finds this the most effective.

He sounds fully medicated, so here’s so other ideas. You could try Piraton or kids Bendryl rather than lorotadine , some antihistamines work differently on different people.

Don’t put any of his washing (clothes or bedding) out on the line, it just gets covered in pollen. Hair washes\showers in the evening to get the days pollen off him. A bit of Vaseline around his nose might trap the pollen from going in. If he doesn’t mind one, I’ve found facemasks outside are great for stopping inhaling pollen.
