Unexplained rash, now becoming unmanageable

Morning.

I have had a rash that appears on my tum, between by breasts and above. It's small welts, if left unchecked I also get itchy through my scalp and in my eyes and patches on my legs, everywhere really. It's so bad it can wake me up.

I've been on Desloratadine for it for about 3 years which has always worked fine, rash goes, no itching. In the past 2 weeks it has stopped working, so gp has prescribed me Fexofenadine and a steroid cream. The Fexo seems to eventually calm it down, and the steroid cream helps too, but 4 days in it's still there and flares up about 4 hours after cream application. I am also using Eurax.

I don't know what I am allergic to and I am going to seek the view of a dermatologist but has anyone else experienced anything like this?

I am 46.

Think I'd ask for a referral to the allergy clinic too.

Hope you find out what's causing the flare up.

I had lifelong acne that cleared when I gave up bread to support someone who was losing weight by doing so. I had resigned myself by then to living with it and there being no cure. I started to notice a difference within a week, and my skin was 100% clear within a fortnight.

Carbs are strongly linked to inflammation.

Might be worth a go, even if just to rule it out.

I second asking for referral to allergy clinic. Dermatologist isn’t the right speciality. On side note, my DH reacts to bio clothes washing soap the way you describe. Have you tried any process of elimination to see what you might be reacting to? It could be anything from soap, shampoo, lotion, non-natural fibre clothes, a food.

I think you need the referral to allergy clinic too.
Unless you find out what is causing the reaction and avoid it, it just keeps coming back, I assume.

Thanks all. I have a consultation about a dodgy mole this week so will ask about referral to allergy clinic then.

I did go low carb for 5 years once but it was before I had this rash, I agree need to try and see what is causing it.

I hope it's not wine!!

Is it fungal? Sounds like the sorts of places a fungal rash would pop up?

@Eckhart Did you give up all carbs or was it just bread?
