Lick Eczema does anyone have a solution/cream to suggest?

My ds is 3 and a half and licks the area around his mouth until it is bright red and so sore it makes him cry. The GP said it's called "lick eczema" and we've been using Oilatum cream on it but can't seem to help it or stop him doing it. Does anyone have experience with this and know anything that would help either with stopping the behaviour or helping sooth the skin etc? Please help. Thanks!

My ds suffers with this and i put good old vaseline around his mouth when he goes to bed - dosen't work straight away but keep doing it every night and it should clear up
