To Huel or not to Huel - and can it help with IBS?

Hey all!

Has anyone with IBS tried Huel at all? I was at my doctors today and we were discussing my IBS which I would very much like to do one... anyway, he recommended Huel. He said that he had been using it himself and that he found it really helped (and promised he didn’t have shares with them! Grin) I’m now considering it, but as it’s not particularly cheap I wanted to see if anyone else had good experiences with it?

Thank you!

Hi

Ibs sucks! Personally I wouldn't touch huel with a bargepole. You would be better off asking your gp to refer you to a dietitian for proper advice. There is a fact sheet on ibs here which may be of interest <a class="break-all" href="https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=www.bda.uk.com/foodfacts/IBSfoodfacts.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwiRlsHHpvffAhWCrHEKHbElDhEQFjAAegQIAxAB&usg=AOvVaw2CnvuSFBLAulAfj-RBgo4Y" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=www.bda.uk.com/foodfacts/IBSfoodfacts.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwiRlsHHpvffAhWCrHEKHbElDhEQFjAAegQIAxAB&usg=AOvVaw2CnvuSFBLAulAfj-RBgo4Y Flowers

My son who is fit as a fiddle tried it in the summer holidays. Foul stuff in my view - much nicer to eat real food. I don't think his few weeks of using it lasted long.

Justme he has also sent a referral to a dietician for me as well (in fairness that’s a big step in itself as I’ve suffered with IBS for ten years and no other GP has thought to do that!)

I have tried the FODMAP diet and still have some exclusions to this day which I know are triggers (all sweetners bar sucrose and onion/garlic) just wondered as he said he finds it works well!
