childs rash doctor says its Hives?

Hi my ds has this rash on his cheeks back and small amount on his chest , slight temp but fine in himself eating playing etc.went to doctors says its hives ? give piriton and see if it goes anyone els had this , someone did say about a thing called slap face ? any ideas .

ds 5 y old.

Hives are raised bumps usually as a reaction , slapped cheek is viral with flat and lacy rash on the body and very red cheeks, temperature etc .

sound lkie slap cheek to me , although his back is slightly raised cheeks very red , comes and goes .

does this help ? Important to keep away from vulnerable groups like pg women if so.

Thankyou for link, i do think this is what my ds has as he does have rash and very red cheeks , keeping an eye on his temp, and giving him piraton and calpol if needed .not sure if Hives has those same symptoms ? Thanks for yor help .

yep we've got slapped cheek here too - dd2 is ok now, her cheeks have gone down, she now has the rash on her arms.

You need to inform the school as they have to let the communicable diseases know and send a letter out.

I've got it too and my rash has gone down - I now have aching joints like you wouldn't believe - like terrible rheumatoid arthritis.

Hives will move around the body more.

how long did it last for ? my ds has it on his back little on chest and cheeks one mun red hot next cooler ,think my dd had it a week ago but only onher legs , thought it was just heat rash but looking back maybe it was same as this .

dd'a rash on her cheeks first appeared on Sunday and she had a little on her body by Tuesday but it had gone by today until we went swimming and it came back again. It can do this for up to 3 weeks apparantely.

My joints are feeling a bit better, nurofen is taking care of the pain but my fingers are a bit swollen and it's mainly my wrists that are painful - my rash went in 24 hours.

Hi Thanks for reply,ds ok had rash since mon\at its worst tues,wed, think getting a little better fingers crossed, looked on the internet at rashes does look like slapped cheek another word fifth desease, said it may go on for few weeks.
DS seems fine in himself enjoying not going to school to i think , such a strange thing ! just hope dd doesnt get it or dh or myself .
Giving ds piriton but i must say not alot of change,not sure if its helping or not. just wishit would go {sad}
