No Epipen Jr available in chemists.. 🙈

Our ds epipen's "use by date" expired in September, been trying to find a replacement for a month or two. Every chemist I have called has none in stock and say they can't get any.

Anyone else finding the same issue?

Apparently there is a uk wide shortage.

Pretty sure the brand called Emerade is available instead of Epipen. Both are adrenaline. Maybe ask the GP to prescribe that.

Yup here too though we did manage to get hold of an in date one. Their website says the hope to resolve it by end of the year and have extended the shelf life of some of their adult epipens but not the kids as far as I know. I have hung onto our expired ones - there was an article in the BBC some time ago about how their shelf life is actually lo her than the expiry date states.

From epipen.co.uk it looks like the pharmacists should be able to order it in

Instructions for Pharmacists
Pharmacies that are presented with a prescription for EpiPen 0.3mg Auto-Injectors can place an order for up to a maximum of two EpiPen 0.3mg Auto-Injectors per prescription. Please send anonymized prescriptions for EpiPen 0.3mg Auto-Injectors to Alliance Healthcare’s prescription validation service, either by Fax (0203 044 8996) or email ([email protected]). Please include your Alliance Healthcare account number when placing your order.

Pharmacies wishing to order stock of EpiPen 0.3mg Adrenaline Auto-Injectors with an expiry date of February 2019 can do this through the usual channels. There are currently two presentations available; a single device with a pip code: pip 8133308 EPIPEN 0.3mg (EXP 02/2019) and a twin pack with a pip code: pip 8001000 EPIPEN 0.3mg (EXP 02/2019). Please ensure you specifically reference these codes when placing your order.

I read that patients are being advised to keep out of date pens and they can be used as long in emergency as the solution inside is clear but not sure if that is the same for Junior ones

Emerade or Jext may be alternatives if they are available
