Hi all. Might be a silly question but thought I'd ask. My due date is in two days and I'm a first time mum. A friend of mine would like to come and visit the baby fairly soon after she arrives however for over a week she has had a red itchy patches over her body which has not gone away with anti histamines. She has had ongoing skin problems for a while now so has written off this particular skin rash as an allergic reaction but has no idea what is causing it. I have encouraged her to go to the doctor / hospital and find out what this is and get a treatment, which she has said she will do. Should I be concerned about having her visiting / wanting to hold my newborn until she gets her blood test results back and the rash has cleared up?suppose it is not an allergic reaction but some other problem? What do you all think?

I think making her have a blood test may be a bit extreme but I think yiu are right in encouraging her to get a diagnosis [smike]

Just to be clear I did not request her to have a blood test.. I suggested her visiting a doctor who then gave her a blood test, but the results don't come back till end of month..
