Hay Fever - air purifiers/ionisers - anyone use one?

My DS really suffers in the hay fever season, do air purifiers or ionisers make any difference. Thought I might get one for his bedroom but they are £100. One called MyAirZone has been recommended.

Have just ordered one from www.healthwholesaledirect.co.uk they were £10 off so it was £88.14 including post. Not cheap but lets hope we get more sleep this year. I will report back as soon as I know of the effects and if it is any good, I'll get one too.

we don't have bad problems but still tried an air purifier. The air seems colder and fresher but didn't notice a lot of difference apart from that. You need to look at the cost of filters, they can be expensive.

secondhandrose, did you get your ionizer?

i have had a look at those clip on ones and was wondering whether they work with the hayfeveror not.

ds2 suffers really bad at school with all the fields etc

i had tried one of the ones you wear around your neck and it didn't work for me and i managed to ge the money back.
i have been pregnant or breastfeeding for the last 7 years so had to find something that worked and have found the following:

1. Buy a plant spray (from garden centres or travel spray bottle from chemist) that you can turn the nozzle to a 'mist' setting and fill with water. you don't get hayfever when it rains so have found spraying all around the room, people, clothes ,hair etc. dampens the pollen down.
2. smear vasaline or balm inside nostrils and the underside of eyelashes so the pollen can't irritate
3. buy Quercetin B5 - a supplement that really works don't know how, i think i remember reading it has a concentrated something that comes from onions?
4. Buy a neti pot and wash nose each am and pm with very warm water and sea salt. it washes all the pollen away.

see netipots it looks bizarre i know but i have tried most things including steriod injections to try and stop the hayfever. if you are interested there are lots of articles on the website about it. i bought a copper neti pot first which was too gentle. have since bought the 'nasopure' bottle which is much better and you can squeeze the bottle to control how poweful the wash is when your nose gets blocked.
