DS2 seems to have developed hay fever, at the same time as me so I guess its tree pollen. Which is a bit of a pain as we're off to a forest camping May DaY! can anyone suggest a non-drowsy med for him please?

Thanks

My son gets hayfever.

His eyes are the worst. It causes him absolute agony and it is so painful to watch when there is so little you can do.

We have been prescribed Cetirizine by the doctors even though he is just 3.5. That worked for the first couple of days then nothing. You can buy eyedrops over the counter but if anyone can think of a "magic" way of getting them into a 3 yr old then i would love to hear it please!

The eyemask is a great idea, and also "spritzing" the area/sleeping area with a fine water spray to dampen the pollen. Someone also mentioned dabbing vasline arounn nose and eyes this is one i'd forgotten too.

The worst thing is, is that it comes from me and it is awful to watch when there is so little you can do.

my son (8) has the most horrendous hayfever. having had it since he was 3 we have tried a wide variety of things.

his eyes sometimes have been so hideously swelled that the school have phoned in a bit of a panic.

the best thing i have found (and this was only last year after years of bugging the gp) is Flixonase nasal spray. it is a steroid spray though so not ideal and can only be obtained for kids from the doctor. one spray up each nostril every morning.

i have combined that with cetirizine and rapitil eyedrops (better that opticrom)

heres hoping anyway!
