Wow, breathtakingly ignorant OP.

A section on allergies, where people can swap potentially life saving info would be one of the better uses of MN, surely?

frenchconnection · 10/04/2007 17:20

barking. drunk. or sun gone to my head.

My DH nut allergy can kill him. I don't appreciate your mockery.

Time for me to leave.

TheArmadillo · 10/04/2007 17:20

and why should you be bothered that he brings his own food and cake. How exactly does that affect you?

Twiglett · 10/04/2007 17:21

you know that do you .. you are such good friends with the parent that you know the extent of his allergy

do you really think a parent would go to that hassle for a minor allergic reaction

you're barking mad

misdee · 10/04/2007 17:21

feanchconnection, my dd1 avoided colourings as it bought her out in a rash. then last summer, she had an ice lolly containing coloyurings, next thing swollen lips, eyes streaming and breathing problems.

DrMarthaMcMoo · 10/04/2007 17:21

Peanut allergies (like many allergies) can get worse the more times you are exposed to the allergen. He may just get a rash now - next time it could be full blown anaphylactic shock.

I suggest you use that two degree honed brain and do some reading on the subject.

Nbg · 10/04/2007 17:21

I think you need to either leave the thread FC or keep your thoughts to yourself.
Your going to upset alot of people.

The sad fact is that people can die of any type of allergy.

Btw I dont have any degrees to tell you that.

frenchconnection · 10/04/2007 17:22

i do know the parent v well, she's explained all about the dangers of peanuts in this world

I think it is a very useful topic. Had to use it earlier this year when Ds had an allergic reaction to a virus.

The info given here was more informative than the info I got when googling it.

degrees are ten a penny these days I've heard.

misdee · 10/04/2007 17:24

FC, unless you have an allergic child then you wont appriciate this section to its fullest. my dd's allergies are mild, but stil laffect their day to day life. right now we are gearing up for the hayfever season which will mean skin rashes, sore eyes, eczema flare ups, asthma attacks and all over ithciness.

DrMarthaMcMoo · 10/04/2007 17:25

I got my doctorate in the post, you know. It was 47p.

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 10/04/2007 17:25

FC

I too am lucky that no-one in my family has allergies, but you never know when you may need help with regard to allergies.

I got edgy when my dd1 had her first cold, so imagine that worry x 1000 when faced with a potentially life threatening illness

mrsjohnsimnelcake · 10/04/2007 17:25

do you know what... i think we should just leave french connection to her own devices... bye

WelshBoris · 10/04/2007 17:26

TinyGang · 10/04/2007 17:26

My god a thread started to have a go at people coping with allergies

Kick 'em while they're down why not?!

Nbg · 10/04/2007 17:26

Well said MrsJ.

I cant believe we're all trying to explain this to a so called adult and parent!

donnie · 10/04/2007 17:27

as much as that? all I had to cough up for was the page I used to print mine off the net.You were fleeced!

DrMarthaMcMoo · 10/04/2007 17:28
