Ive been spotty for a few months now and the doc doesn't know what it is but it's not acne.

Could it be an allergy to a certain food?

If it is how do i find out what?

It definately isn't an allergy to any skin care or shampoo product as i use the same stuff that i have been for years

What do the spots look like, and where are they?

juicychops · 07/04/2007 18:27

They are on the tops of my arms and shoulder blades. Some of them look like normal spots that you can squeeze but most of them just bleed and are right deep in the skin like blind boils but only small. But quite painful. They scar pretty bad too

I agree - they don't sound like an allergic reaction at all. Maybe hormones, maybe blocked pores or something.

Dh gets a lot of boils, and neat tea tree oil helps him.

My sister suffers from something called hidradenitis supporativa which causes boils - usually under the arms, but they can occur anywhere. Could it be something like that?

no dont think it is that. Ive been using tea tree soap which has been working really well, but its still there although better than it was. It just looks horrible and im really consious of it

Try neat tea tree oil, you can buy it in little bottles from Boots or Holland and Barrett and it's not very expensive. You might find it more effective than the soap as it's much stronger.

Maybe you could ask to see a different GP as well, see if someone else might have some ideas.

ask if you can see a dermatologist.
