Did anyone find cutting out dairy completely helped their breastfed babies reflux?

I am at the end of my tether with the screaming and lack of sleep!

Is your baby taking any medication? Has he been seen by someone>

DS2 suffered horrible reflux and I was put on a
no dairy
no citrus
no eggs/chicken
no tomatoes
diet

If it helped or not I am not sure. He was still in pain, still vomiting, still had apnea episodes, but having acid poos, but he was worse if I had any of the foods above

When it was time for weaning he was put on a
no wheat
no dairy
no eggs
diet

And having his medicine

I'm seeing the gp for my six week check next week and so am going to see if we can get Zantac to try and ease the acid. Hopefully the poor thing will get relief soon, it's horrible seeing her in so much pain!

Going dairy free and soya free helped enormously in our case. I had a different baby within days. I have friends whose babies had more severe and numerous allergies who had to discontinue BF and go on hypoallergenic formula, but strictly cutting these items out of your diet is definitely worth a go.

Yes cutting dairy and soya. Join the cmpa for breastfeeding Facebook group, lots of advice there

So day two of cutting out dairy, my dd has had a gunky eye since birth, HV said it was a blocked duct. It appears to have gone. Baby ance looking less red, and we managed a two hour nap in Moses basket this afternoon without any reflux symptoms!

Here's hoping I continue to see an improvement - as I'm totally exhausted

Great news, hope you continue to see improvement. I think this is a relatively common but not well understood problem.

Just in case anyone is reading this thread I thought I would update.

Day three of no dairy and dd's reflux has almost disappeared. She hasn't had any green poops and slept easy in her Moses basket last night. She is still waking every 2-3 hours for feeding but a quick burp and holding her upright for 15 minutes after was enough for her to go down and sleep well. No vomiting, coughing or painful writhing. And her sour breath has disappeared!

I'm shocked that her symptoms have improved so quickly!
