help: wheat free/dairy free/egg free "shredded wheat" birds nests?

My dd's reception class are making shredded wheat birds nests for easter (crushed shredded wheat mixed with melted chocolate).
I need to come up with a wheat free/dairy free/egg free version that ds can make - and I'm stumped. Any suggestions gratefully received.
Thanks

Have you got a local Fresh and Wild near you? They do loads of cereal like that so you could see if you could buy a shredded wheat version and then make??

What cereal can he have?

Wimmilymorris · 26/03/2007 21:38

Katymac - rice, corn, oats. Maybe crushed cornflakes would work?

Rice Krispie work

What choc can you use?

Cocoa?
Chocolate (plain/milk/white?)
Drinking choc?

Cornflakes work

I can use plain chocolate... so same mixture as, say, chocolate krispies moulded into nest shapes. Yup. That should work.

Phew. Couldn't think! Thanks.

Or cocoa, syrup & a bit of olive oil?

Rice Krispies are also nice in melted marshmallows (I normally add butter - but I guess Olive oil would work?)

Or even add cocoa to that

If you use a paper cake case and use the end of a rolling pin to make the well in the middle

marshmallows sound good. I'll try it out tomorrow
